Renewcell to link up with TextileGenesis
Renewcell, a producer of branded dissolving cellulose pulp called Circulose, has announced it intends to roll out TextileGenesis’ traceability technology across its entire supply chain following industry trials.
Made from 100% textile waste, Circulose-branded pulp can be used for viscose, lyocell, modal, acetate and other manmade cellulosic fibres, known as MMCFs.
TextileGenesis was founded by Amit Gautam, a former executive at MMCF manufacturer Lenzing, in 2018. French technology provider Lectra acquired 51% of capital and voting rights in the start-up in December. Existing users include Kelheim Fibres and Eastman's Naia.
Mr Gautam said TextileGenesis could help Renewcell “verify every step of the supply chain and carry that authentic and transparent message all the way to brand and retail partners”, thereby delivering ‘pulp-to-retail’ transparency for its customers. He described the patented process behind Circulose as “truly circular”.
