Renewcell signs up CTA Green Fibre

Renewcell uses textile-to-textile recycling technology to make its 100% recycled pulp, Circulose, from cotton-rich waste like denim jeans and other clothing. This pulp is then supplied to partners in sheet form.
CTA Green Fibre, meanwhile, manufactures wood-based lyocell at its mill inside the Henanese city of Xinxiang’s national economic and technological development zone, 8.5 kilometres from the urban centre. It is itself the product of investment from China General Technology Group, Xinxiang Bailu and China National Machinery Industry Corporation (Sinomach).
After signing the offtake agreement, the Chinese company will subsequently source 18,000 tonnes of Circulose over a five-year period, to use as feedstock for its lyocell fibres. The agreement between Renewcell and CTA Green Fibre was made possible by the former’s exclusive global trading partner, Ekman, they added.
“Renewcell is an outstandingly innovative enterprise,” commented CTA Green Fibre chairman, Yu Hanjiang. “The commercial application of Circulose in the field of lyocell [production] will provide sustainable and innovative materials for the fashion industry, with broad prospects.
“Both parties are cooperating fully to promote Circulose.”
Other fibre developers such as Austria's Lenzing and Hebei-based Tangshan Sanyou have already established purchase commitments with Renewcell, which saw net sales increase by 350% year on year in 2022.
