Chinese lyocell development summit held

The city of Jinan in Shandong, China, played host to a lyocell industry development summit earlier this month.

Academics and researchers from institutions such as Donghua University and Shandong University of Art and Design, formerly known as Shandong Institute of Industrial Arts, attended alongside 100-plus thought leaders from around the world, local media reported.

Key happenings during the day-long event, now in its fourth edition, included the announcement of a new lyocell research institute, the Jinan International New Fiber Development Forum, as well as the launch of an industry-specific internet of things platform and a new, Changqing-based textile raw material trading index.

Another highlight was the signing of strategic partnership agreements between raw material and commodities trading platform WeBuy and fibre producers Sateri and Shandong Hongtaiding New Material Technology.

Keynote speeches, market roundtables, plant visits and an awards ceremony also all took place.
