Dyeing partnership will make transition to new fibre ‘easy’, OceanSafe says

22/04/2024

Swiss textile technology start-up OceanSafe, which specialises in developing “toxin-free, biodegradable and compostable” synthetic fibres and yarns, has announced a new partnership with finishing and dyeing technology provider CHT.

OceanSafe has developed proprietary fibres and yarns called NaNea that it says can serve as a sustainable alternative to polyester.

CHT has now made its Cooldye technology available for use with NaNea. With this technology, the dyeing process can take place at lower temperatures, leading to savings in energy and time. The dyeing process for NaNea is carried out at 110 degrees Celsius, which is 20 degrees lower than for polyester.

In light of this, OceanSafe has said the transition to using NaNea in manufacturing processes should be easy.
