New Zealand brand Kathmandu is relaunching its bestselling puffer jacket, the Epiq, in a special edition made from Q-Cycle by Fulgar, a recycled nylon yarn. The yarn is the result of a thermochemical process that turns old tyres into pyrolysis oil. Waste that cannot be recycled is used to power the conversion process, making it a low carbon solution, said Fulgar.

“We are delighted that a brand as important as Kathmandu has chosen our Q-Cycle yarn to revisit the iconic Epiq jacket. It is an important recognition of our more than decade-long commitment to research and development for an increasingly circular and sustainable supply chain throughout Europe,” commented Fulgar marketing manager Daniela Antunes.

Each jacket has an individual Digital ID that will allow buyers to find out more about its sustainability credentials along with information on its design, manufacturing, materials and how to repair it.
