Kontoor CEO Scott Baxter said: “While a shift in the timing of shipments impacted revenue growth, Wrangler drove another quarter of broad-based growth and market share gains, Helly Hansen delivered better-than-expected revenue and profitability, and we launched Lee’s first equity campaign in years while improving the health of the marketplace.
For the quarter, Wrangler revenue was $471 million, 2% higher than the same period last year. Lee’s $187 million was an 8% decrease. Helly Hansen global revenue was $193 million, while Musto was $7 million.
Mr Baxter added the group was well positioned to finish a record year with momentum. “We are raising our full year outlook to reflect stronger revenue and earnings growth, accelerating cash generation, and the scaling benefits from Project Jeanius,” he said.
Launched at the start of last year, Project Jeanius was predicted to realise between $50 million and $100 million of gross profit improvement and expenses savings, and involves “reducing operating complexity, improving speed to market and leveraging advanced data analytics”.
Full-year revenue is now expected to be around $3.12 billion, or 20% higher than last year.
