Performance Days steps up its sustainability efforts

The organisers of Performance Days have announced that future editions of the exhibition’s Performance Forum, which showcases innovative fabrics and accessories, will only feature materials that have been proven to be sustainable.

This change is in line with the event’s long-term focus on sustainability, which has included choosing Focus Topics related to recycling, biodegradability, renewable materials and responsible water usage.

The organisers described their decision to restrict participation in the Performance Forum to sustainable materials as “a drumbeat for the future of the industry”.

Lena Weimer, Performance Days marketing manager, said: "We see it as our chance and our mission to promote sustainable development in the industry. We look forward to guiding fabric manufacturers in the right direction and inspiring yet more innovation. We have the leverage to make a difference in the entire value chain and our decision is not seen as a hurdle for our exhibitors, but as a motivation."

In addition, the next edition of Performance Days, which will take place from November 13-14 in Munich, will aim to be a more sustainable event. This will include reducing unnecessary waste and the presence of disposable products.
