Football launches continue with adidas ‘crazylight’
Adidas has launched adizerof50 crazylight football boot – the latest in a raft of new designs launched by the German company and US rival Nike in recent weeks.
Following their similar knitted running shoes, Primeknit and Flyknit, in 2012, the pair are racing to outdo each other in the lead up to the World Cup, taking place in Brazil this summer.
Adidas is describing the crazylight as the “lightest commercial football boot produced, ever” - it is 20% lighter than the current inline adidas adizero f50.
The stud configuration on the outsole has been rearranged in order to increase traction, while decreasing the overall weight. The pattern on the outsole is laser etched and an anodized coating adds strength.
The boot will be debuted by Gareth Bale tonight, March 18, when Real Madrid face FC Schalke 04 in the UEFA Champions League second leg tie.
Mr Bale said: "Hopefully I can score a few goals in them over the next few weeks."
