Nike to end Manchester United sponsorship

Nike is to terminate its sponsorship of Manchester United’s kit, saying the proposed deal did not represent good value.

Nike has sponsored the English football club since 2002, but has said the 2014-15 season would be its last. United earned $64.7 million from the deal in the 2012-13 season.

The former Premiership champions have struggled to find form since the departure of long-time boss Sir Alex Ferguson last year.

“Any partnership with a club or federation has to be mutually beneficial and the terms that were on offer for a renewed contract did not represent good value for Nike’s shareholders," said Nike.
