OutDoor ends on a high
Almost 22,000 visitors from 99 countries attended the 21st OutDoor trade show in Friedrichshafen, which closed on Friday.

“Much has been said about economic issues and whether there is a likely change in the fortunes of the outdoor industry, yet once again the OutDoor has shown that the industry is growing, that the attitude is almost universally upbeat,” said Rolf Schmid, President of the European Outdoor Group (EOG) and CEO of Mammut Sports Group.

There were 220 product launches and 925 exhibitors from 39 countries - marginally more than last year.

Mike Joyce, PrimaLoft CEO, said: “The US market is very strong bolstered by a long cold winter along with the US economy improving. The European market is surprisingly positive. Even with a warm winter and economic stagnation, the attitude of the brands and retailers is quite positive and Asia continues to grow. With growing incomes people now can better enjoy the outdoors and afford technical apparel and hard goods.”
