EOG mulls ‘outdoor’ festival to engage public

At a meeting on July 9, just before the current show opened, members of the European Outdoor Group (EOG) voted against opening for the extra day, although there was reportedly fairly equal support for both opinions.
“It’s no secret we have being in favour of doing a public day, using our experience with Eurobike,” said Stefan Reisinger, head of OutDoor for Messe Friedrichshafen. “But we are happy to enter dialogue to see what might be possible in the future.”
“We are showing product for next summer, and the consumer might not understand it could take 12 months until the product arrives,” said Rolf Schmid, president of EOG.
Mr Schmid added that the board is considering the idea of a public ‘festival’. “We need to give passion to this, more emotion; it’s about having fun and creating an experience for consumers, rather than them just visiting booths.
"We are working on this idea and throw the table open, and hopefully sooner or later there might be a public outdoor festival.”
