A record 62,000 visitors attend Intertextile Shanghai
A record number of visitors and buyers attended the spring edition of Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics, a year aftter it moved to the Chinese city from Beijing.
More than 62,000 trade visitors from 88 countries came to source the latest apparel fabrics and accessories from 2,637 exhibitors from 24 countries.
This compares to 40,214 and 1,469 buyers and exhibitors, respectively, at the 2014 Spring edition.
The extra space in the new fairground allowed the exhibition area to roughly double compared with last year to 100,600 sqm.
Wendy Wen, a general manager for fair organiser Messe Frankfurt, said: “Our main reason for moving to this new fairground was to allow easier access to the fair for domestic trade buyers from around the country, and the significant increase in the visitor figure confirms this was the case and that the relocation was the right decision to make.”
Howvere, she admitted the recent completion of the fairground caused problems. “I would like to state that the three fair organisers are mindful that this edition did not meet the usual high standards expected of our fairs, and stress that our main focus over the next seven months will be to provide a better sourcing experience at the next edition.”
Lenzing’s head of marketing communication, Christina Kreuzwieser, said the combination of the concurrent fairs attracts more quality customers. “I think the buyers that come here are looking for quality products.”
The autumn edition will take place from October 13 to 15.
