Brazil ‘optimistic’ despite declining textile exports

Turnover from Brazil’s textile and apparel sectors fell 5% to $55.4 billion in 2014, according to the Brazilian textile and Apparel association (Abit).

Exports fell 6.7% and imports rose 4.8%, and the body expects a $6.13 billion deficit this year on the back of flat production.

“We are optimistic, but we have to be forward thinking,” said Rafael Cervone, CEO of Abit.
