Wearables and health are key themes for ISPO
Running shoe soles that analyse running style and provide feedback, kiteboarding sensors that record height and impact data and bicycle systems that automatically adjust the brightness of lights will be among products in the ISPO Brandnew section at the Germany-based trade show at the end of the month.
Established companies such as Garmin, TomTom and FITBIT, Samsung will be exhibiting in the Wearables sector and the athleisure segment will be represented in an exhibit at ISPO VISION in hall B1.
The themes for footwear will attempt to be mapped at the Runner’s World Running Shoe Symposium, featuring Currex, Salomon and Saucony, on January 25 and the expanded Health & Fitness zone will feature 140 exhibitors.
Markus Hefter, exhibition group director, said: “A large part of today’s population has a lifespan twice that of what the expectancy was 100 years ago. This means we are old for a longer period of time than we are young. Therefore we are more aware of the condition of our bodies and try to maintain our youth and fitness as long as possible. These days, when you play a sport, you are not only interested in your actual performance, but also in its overall impact on your health and personal fitness.”
In total, more than 2,500 exhibitors are expected at ISPO Munich 2016, from January 24 to 27.
