EU exports of technical textiles on the rise

The value of exports of man-made fibres to countries outside of the EU rose 4.5% in value during 2015, according to the latest figures from the European Apparel and Textile Confederation (Euratex). The data was compiled by the Textile and Clothing Information Centre. The US remains the biggest export market for the EU’s man-made fabrics.

Exports of woven fabrics were down 0.4%, the first decrease in several years, with Morocco the leading buyer. Morocco, alongside Tunisia, also led the way in the main buyers of knitted fabrics, the exports of which remained stable in terms of value.

Technical textiles continued their growth as an important EU textile product with a 5.3% increase in exports outside the EU. Exports of technical textiles to the US grew 13.4% and the country took a 19% share of the export total.
