Pensole Footwear Design Academy goes international

The Pensole Footwear Design Academy has announced it will hold one-week footwear design classes in China, Portugal and Canada this summer.

The classes, which it calls Kick Kamps, will take place in Shanghai, China; Guimaraes, Portugal; and Toronto, Canada. There will also be a camp at Pensole’s headquarters in Portland, US.

“For the past few years, we have experienced incredible demand for our footwear design courses in Europe, Asia and Canada,” explained D’Wayne Edwards, founder of Pensole. “It hasn’t always been possible for talented designers to make the trip to Pensole in Portland. It has always been my dream to provide this opportunity the best aspiring designers around the globe and Kicks Kamp will be an important step in making that happen.”

The Kick Kamps are intensive design courses that will teach students skills like consumer profiling, proportional sketching and rendering. At the end of each camp, a panel of judges will select the best design to be produced and sold globally.

Prospective students must submit one hand-drawn sketch of an original footwear design; no digital sketches will be accepted. The applicants must be aged 18 or over and need to be residents of the country in which the class is held.
