Pensole seeks funding for new footwear programmes

The campaign is multi-tiered, with different levels of funding allowing the organisation to launch different initiatives.
The initial target on Kickstarter is $75,000, which would allow Pensole to establish a free programme that would provide high school students across the US with access to the footwear industry in the form of a design-focused competition.
“The future of footwear must be sourced in high school - and even middle school,” explained D’Wayne Edwards, founder of Pensole. “We want to provide opportunities to discover and develop future talent at the same age they become consumers.”
Subsequent tiers of funding would trigger additional initiatives, including a free after-school shoemaking programme and free international college programme.
Pensole has said that reaching the ultimate funding goal of $1,000,000 would give it the opportunity to upgrade its Innovation Studio in Portland, Oregon, where students and aspiring designers are given the skills and exposure to break into the footwear industry.
