New Balance apprenticeship on offer for Pensole students

31/10/2017
The Pensole Footwear Design Academy will again team up with sportswear brand New Balance to give aspiring footwear designers the opportunity to hone their skills.

The Pensole Master Class in Footwear Design will take place from January 16-February 6, 2018 at New Balance’s design and development facility in Massachusetts. It will look to build on the success of the programme the partners offered in 2017.

This year’s class will also be sponsored by Modo, a 3D modelling and rendering software solution created by UK-based company Foundry, and technology company Lenovo, which will provide five computers for students to use.

A total of 25 students will be selected to take part in the intensive three-week programme in which they will receive hands-on training in footwear, colour and materials design. They will be supported by industry professionals from the New Balance and Modo teams, including design directors, technicians and developers.

Top students from the class will be considered for a one-year paid apprenticeship in design at New Balance. More than 15 Pensole students have previously gained experience at the brand following their time at the academy.

Those interested in the programme can apply on the Pensole website until December 10. Pensole and New Balance will announce the students selected for the master class on December 15.
