New Aquafil partnership represents “the future of fashion”

Fashion designer Stella McCartney has used Italian yarn company Aquafil’s regenerated Econyl yarn in her Autumn 2017 collection of bags.

The yarn is made from recovered ocean waste, including fishing nets that have been discarded on the sea bed. Aquafil has so far converted hundreds of tonnes of material into its Econyl yarn product.

Stella McCartney’s new collection includes a handbag, a travel bag, a rucksack and a cosmetics case.

“This partnership represents the future of fashion,” said Giulio Bonazzi, Aquafil CEO. “It proves that when sustainable ingredients are of the highest quality, they will be adopted by brands from sportswear to luxury.”
