Ocean plastic-using textile company hires for expansion

07/09/2017
Spanish company Seaqual 4U has appointed Michel Chtepa as managing director with the aim of making Seaqual a “global ingredient brand that engages the textile industry to produce in a rational and environmentally friendly way”.

Seaqual yarn is made from recovered ocean plastic and is a collaboration between Ecoalf, textile group Santanderina and spinner Antex.

For every kilo of Seaqual fibre produced, one kilo of waste is removed from the seabed. The company has a network of 165 fishing boats trawling the sea for plastic litter.

Michel Chtepa previously worked for Quintenas Textile Solutions and Invista.
