Local investors express interest in Ibex

The future of outdoor clothing company Ibex, which announced earlier this month that it would cease operations in February 2018, may be secure after reports that two local investors are considering making an offer for the company.

According to local media, Liz Robert, the former chief executive of local teddy bear producer Vermont Teddy Bear Company, and private equity firm Vermont Works have expressed an interest in Ibex, which is based in Vermont.

“We’re heartbroken by yet another iconic Vermont company being sold outside the state or even outside the country,” Bob Zulkoski, co-founder of Vermont Works, was quoted as saying. “We think Liz is the right person to relaunch (the Ibex) brand successfully and rebuild the jobs here in Vermont.”

Bids for Ibex’s assets will be accepted until December 27 with a final closing expected on January 15.
