Applied DNA to set up testing lab in India

Applied DNA Sciences, a provider of DNA-based product authentication solutions, will open a new central DNA testing laboratory in Ahmedabad, India on February 15.

The facility will offer full forensic authentication services and is intended to support the company’s growing global textile business in the Asia-Pacific region. It will allow Applied DNA to provide customers in the region with accurate reports in a short turnaround time. 

The operation will be led by Dr Ila Lansky, a scientist with over 11 years of forensic DNA experience. She is currently based at Applied DNA’s forensic laboratories in New York. 

Applied DNA has explained it chose Ahmedabad in Gujarat state as the location for the facility as the region is an economic hub for the development of a range of materials, most notably cotton and other textiles.
