Canada Goose plans to manufacture more of its own products

The chief executive of outdoor apparel brand Canada Goose, Dani Reiss, has said the company plans to bring more manufacturing in-house in order to boost margins.

Mr Reiss told Reuters that the brand aims to make at least half of its outerwear itself in the next few years, up from around a third now.

He added that Canada Goose is committed to growing its internal capacity, referring to this move as one of its “pillars of growth”.

In 2017, Canada Goose announced it would invest in two new manufacturing facilities in Canada. The first of these opened in Québec in October. It will focus on manufacturing some of the brand’s most popular styles from its various seasonal collections.

A new raw material and cutting distribution centre will be built in Ontario with the aim of increasing efficiency and production capacity.
