International wholesale sales increased 17.9% year on year, domestic wholesale sales were 8.5% higher, and company-owned retail sales jumped 26.4%. Comparable store sales were up 9.5% worldwide.
Skechers chief executive, Robert Greenberg, said the first quarter of 2018 “surpassed our expectations”. In particular, he highlighted the success of the men’s Skechers Sport, women’s sandals and men’s and women’s On the Go collections.
For his part, chief operating officer, David Weinberg, pointed to the success of the company’s overseas business. He said: “Our international subsidiary and joint venture businesses are driving our growth with a combined quarterly increase of 25.7 per cent. Now at 54 per cent of our total business, we continue to see international as our greatest growth opportunity.”
