Skechers banks on its international business

US footwear brand Skechers achieved sales of just under $1.26 billion in the second quarter of 2019 (three months ended June 30), an increase of 10.9% compared to the same period of last year.

This growth was primarily driven by international revenue, which increased 19.8% year-on-year. It now makes up 55.7% of the brand’s overall sales. Domestic sales were 1.5% higher than in the second quarter of 2018.

Discussing the reasons for the strength of its global business, Skechers CEO Robert Greenberg said the company is “continuing to strategically view our business with a global lens”. He went on to add that many of its key product styles are now being introduced at the same time around the world, albeit with “nuances in certain markets”.
