Primeknit finds new home in clothing
Adidas has launched a sports bra and tights made with Primeknit, a technique that enabled its Advanced Concepts team to “fine-tune the amount of flexibility and support required”.

Clair Wallace, design director of Advanced Concepts and Global Brands at adidas, said: “We built the infrastructure of the bra from the inside out, based on insights from our female athletes around needing support and comfort in equal measure. The knit construction of Primeknit allows the bra to mirror every movement, enabling female athletes to train without any distractions.”

Primeknit was launched in footwear in 2012 – two weeks ahead of Nike’s Flyknit, which saw the pair in court, with Nike accusing adidas of infringement. Since then both companies have created shoes in most categories using the technique. Nike launched a Flyknit bra in July 2017.
