Toray upgrades its Primeflex yarn

Primeflex was first unveiled in 2010. The first iteration was a stretchable polyester with a bimetal structure. Primeflex 2.0 was a bi-component nylon version that offered improved four-way stretchability and a high degree of moisture absorbency.
The company has now employed what it calls “nanodesign” to control the cross-sectional shape of the composite fibre, resulting in a thin structure and a fine composite yarn with a single filament count of 0.8 denier or less.
Toray has said fabrics made using it are able to stretch and recover without the addition of elastic materials. Benefits are said to include outstanding breathability, abrasion resistance and softer feel against the skin. It is also very light.
