Japan’s Toray has expanded its Primeflex range into a new fabric concept for sportswear, which it will debut at ISPO Munich at the end of the month, following “years of research”.

The bi-component yarn partially uses a plant-derived nylon polymer and can be combined with waterproof and breathable finishes to expand its use to wider range of applications.

It has a softer stretch than one based on based on polyurethane elastic fibres while achieving a stretching property 50% more than the fabric using crimped textured yarn, said the company.
