Spinnova brings in New Zealand textile expert

Finnish bio-yarn producer Spinnova has appointed its first in-house textile expert. New Zealand-born Maree Hamilton has been chosen to take up this position. She joins the company on August 1.

Ms Hamilton is a textile technologist with over 30 years of experience in textile material research and development, product innovation and processing. Her product knowledge covers apparel, footwear, technical textiles and several other areas. 

She had been working as textile collaboration manager at the New Zealand Merino Company since 2010, but will now relocate to Finland. 

“We are thrilled about this appointment,” said Spinnova CEO Janne Poranen. “This is great news for our brand partners, as Maree is an absolutely ideal person to run Spinnova’s product development collaboration.”

After launching the pilot production line for its cellulosic fibre at the start of 2019, Spinnova is now focusing on end product development and is working with a number of partner brands. It is also planning for large volume commercial production of its material.
