Spinnova joins Fashion for Good’s scaling programme

25/07/2018
The Fashion for Good initiative, which aims to bring together companies from across the supply chain to change how fashion is designed, made, worn and reused, is to help Finnish bio-yarn producer Spinnova scale up development of its wood-based fibre.

Spinnova has developed a process that allows it to turn wood fibres into yarn without using any harmful chemicals or consuming high levels of energy or water.

The partnership with Fashion for Good will allow Spinnova to connect with manufacturers, brands and investors who can help it fast-track the implementation and adoption of this process. It will be supported for a period of 18 months.

“We have a fantastic relationship with Fashion for Good and are very much looking forward to the programme,” said the company’s CEO, Janne Poranen. “Working with brands and developing the fibre to suit specific applications is the way we have strategically chosen to commercialise our innovation.”
