The Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers (ACIMIT) has said the recent ITMA exhibition in Barcelona (June 20-26) was “a resounding success” for its members.

There were a total of 1,717 exhibitors at the event, of which 364 came from Italy, making the country the best represented in this category. Italians also made up 10% of the total number of visitors, second behind Spain.

“ITMA remains a must-see event for the industry, and the primary global stage at which to show new developments in technology,” said Alessandro Zucchi, president of ACIMIT. “As far as our own country is concerned, the number of Italian exhibitors and visitors bears witness to the vitality of our textile industry.”

The organisation also highlighted that Italian companies will be major players in the modernisation of Egypt’s textile industry. The likes of EFI Reggiani, ITEMA, Marzoli and Savio will supply machinery for the first phase of this project.
