China trade tensions hit Italian textile machinery makers

19/11/2018
The number of orders received by Italian textile machinery manufacturers in the third quarter of 2018 (July to September) was stable compared to the same period of last year, according to the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers (ACIMIT).

Domestic orders increased 30% year on year but there was a 2% fall in orders from foreign markets.

Acimit president Alessandro Zucchi said Italian textile machine manufacturers had experienced a slowdown in several important markets during the first nine months of the year. He highlighted China in particular, stating that many textile manufacturers in the country had halted investment plans due to the ongoing trade tensions with the US.
