ACIMIT sees positive prospects in Asia

With the support of the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers (ACIMIT), around 130 Italian companies are exhibiting at the ongoing ITMA ASIA + CITME exhibition in Shanghai (October 15-19).

The organisation has said Asia is an important foreign market for Italian machinery manufacturers, revealing that 46% of the country’s exports of textile machinery were destined for this region in the first half of 2018. Moreover, exports to China took 16% of the overall total. These amounted to around €156 million.

“Prospects for the Chinese market remain positive, in spite of the fact that the demand for foreign machinery from local textile manufacturers for this first half of the year has been rather slow,” said ACIMIT president Alessandro Zucchi. “The trust our machinery manufacturers have placed in China is abundantly apparent in the large number of Italian exhibitors present in Shanghai. Italy is among the most highly ranked foreign countries in terms of the number of exhibiting companies.”
