The North Face’s new, no-compromise vision

Denver, Colorado-headquartered outdoor brand The North Face recently announced a new, sustainable materials-focused vision in time for Earth Day 2021.

Exploration Without Compromise will see the company action commitments which include: 100% of its most-used materials to be recycled, regenerative or renewable by the year 2025; 100% of its polyester and 80% of its nylon to be made with recycled content by 2023; single-use plastic packaging to be eliminated by 2025; a fully circular apparel line (a brand first) to be released by autumn 2022.

What is more, as part of the brand’s Renewed initiative, customers are now able to send back lightly-used The North Face outdoor garments, which the company will refurbish via an eight-step process to like-new condition, it said, ready to re-enter the marketplace complete with a one-year warranty.

Going forward, a new Exploration Without Compromise seal will facilitate easier identification of the brand’s relatively more sustainable products (those which have been singled out as containing 75% or more recycled, organic, regenerative and/or responsibly sourced renewable materials by weight) both in-store and on its owned digital marketing channels.
