The North Face in ongoing Korean ‘eco’ push
The South Korean arm of outdoor brand The North Face, exclusively distributed by Youngone Corporation in the country, has launched an “eco polar air down” collection of jackets.
The collection consists of Responsible Down Standard (RDS)-certified goose down filling, as well as an outer shell and inner lining made from recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET) and synthetic “fur” trimmings. The rPET fibre is derived from waste plastic bottles collected from both the city of Seoul and Jeju Island.
A high-neck collar, inner cuffs and adjustable Velcro sleeves contribute to warding off cooler temperatures.
Local media said that the garments “satisfy eco-friendly and ethical consumption trends”, as well as provide “outstanding” warmth and lightness.
