Adidas unveils recycled Terrex Futurecraft.Loop anorak prototype

Adidas has released data on its Terrex Futurecraft.Loop performance anorak, reportedly set to be released in 2022.

Made from recycled mono-material - specifically, Parley for the Oceans’ polyester - the jacket has been designed to be sent back to the brand at the end of its life for recycling.

This means that the jacket’s shell, PrimaLoft fill and sewing thread were all previously pieces of plastic collected from beaches and coastlines. Further, the anorak’s fastenings are all made from polyester scraps (though the brand is looking into incorporating recycled zippers and snap buttons made out of the same textile ahead of the jacket’s commercial release), with no dyes or finishes used.

The only hint of colour is the pale yellow of burnt polyester where the Terrex logo has been laser cut.

As the initial concept, adidas does not yet have any “concrete information” as to how often the product could be recycled in practice, the company said.
