Applied DNA’s fibre focus eclipsed by covid testing opportunities

Technology provider Applied DNA, which provides DNA-based product authentication solutions for textiles, has reported a 294% jump for third quarter revenues to $1.7 million.

However, the increased revenues are due the application of its technology to the covid-19 detecting arena, rather than textiles.

James Hayward, CEO Applied DNA, said: “We delivered excellent year-over-year revenue growth in the fiscal third quarter while laying the groundwork to secure a recently awarded covid-19 testing services contract that has potential to be the largest contract in the company’s history.

“Regarding our supply chain security business, we have cautious optimism within the cotton supply chains we serve as we approach the start of the cotton ginning season in the US. However, with Asia-Pacific beset by the Delta variant, man-made fibre opportunities remain static.”
