Hyosung researchers share 2022-2023 textile trends
Seoul-based fibre producer Hyosung TNC’s global fashion research division, established in 2018, recently released its textile trend insights for next year’s autumn-winter season.
According to the company’s Fashion Design Center (FDC), which homed in on the intimate and swimwear categories on this occasion, product developers will be especially focused on meeting a perceived demand for “classic” textures such as rib, waffle or crepe jersey and “comfort stretch” offerings across both performance gear and so-called trans-seasonal basics.
Functional, thermoregulating fabrics which offer climate-adaptive properties will also be key, the FDC reported. Additionally, brands will further push for pile textiles, in particular, to deliver both a softer hand-feel and greater eco-friendliness, it projected.
“Sustainability, versatility and performance, along with interesting textures for a tactile experience, are key textile drivers for next autumn-winter,” FDC team manager, Lewis Hong, commented. “Hyosung is fortunate to have a broad range of options across our elastane, nylon and polyester portfolio available to meet these forecasted textile trends.”
The company singled out its fully recycled regen range, such as its odour minimising creora regen spandex, cooling Mipan regen aqua-X nylon and regen Askin polyester products, plus chlorine-resistant creora highclo, as options for brands and retailers looking to meet the consumer expectations identified by its research team.
Earlier this year, Hyosung found creora regen spandex to have an approximately 67% lower carbon footprint than that of its virgin creora spandex following a third-party-verified life cycle assessment exercise.
