Ventile’s plastic-free performance key for Mover
Performance textile producer Ventile Fabrics, whose flagship “all-weather” Ventile textiles are made from 100% extra-long staple cotton, has again partnered fellow Switzerland-based activewear brand Mover on its latest collection.

Swiss entrepreneur and ski enthusiast Nicolas Rochat purchased Mover in 2004. His Lausanne-headquartered company, which creates plastic-free thermal regulatory and protective sportswear, has favoured Ventile’s high-density woven fabrics since 2017, when the brand renounced its Gore-Tex license.

A key piece from Mover’s newest line is a short-fitting blouson engineered from Ventile’s 100% recycled Eco 400 Rco fabric and insulated with the sportswear firm’s proprietary Swisswool material, made from alpaca wool grown in the Swiss Alps. The jacket is also lined with dense, yet breathable, cotton fibre.

The brand further highlighted its soon-to-be-released Mover x Ventile lightweight shell jacket (pictured), crafted from the latter’s L35 Org organic cotton. Described as ergonomic by design, the outerwear article also features an adjustable hood, cotton tape, hidden pockets and double lapped seams.

Mr Rochat commented: “When I started Mover Sportswear, my aim was clear: stop plastic. When looking for partners for our new lines, it was an obvious choice to go with Ventile.

“Known for its perfluorinated compound (PFC)-free 100% cotton fabrics and high-quality performance fabrics, we knew that Ventile could deliver on our two main objectives: to produce a garment free of plastic and to provide a premium product for our customers.”

Ventile’s marketing manager, Daniel Odermatt, remarked that the field of plastic-free textiles appears to be gaining momentum, tying this in with the “trend towards the end of single-use plastics” around the world.
