Bluesign adds new tools for supplier analysis
Swiss textile chemicals certification body Bluesign has launched new data and impact services in line with what it calls its “holistic approach” to sustainable chemistry solutions for the textile value chain.
This latest offer falls under the company’s existing system partnership mechanism. Together, its packages will thus deliver “expanded capabilities” for supply chain monitoring and management, it said, using Bluesign-verified data targeted at water, energy and chemical consumption, plus greenhouse gas emissions and waste.
Whereas the data service will produce a snapshot of users’ individual footprints, the complementary impact service will support businesses with communicating the results of a subsequent “foundational” supply base assessment. This calculation will take a suite of resource management and impact reduction metrics into account, Bluesign explained.
Designed for incremental implementation as part of a tiered system, the “ultimate goal” for participating organisations, according to an official announcement, should be to attain full system partnership. This will in turn allow for the creation of bespoke action plans.
Impact data and analysis will be generated on an annual basis at either tier, to aid with reporting.
