Korea Ski Association signs up Kappa
Sportswear brand Kappa, founded in Turin in 1978, has entered into an official sponsorship agreement with Korea Ski Association.
Local distributor Lotte Global Fashion Retail (Lotte GFR) secured exclusive rights to the Kappa brand from its parent company, Italy’s BasicNet, last year. The deal between BasicNet and Lotte GFR is valid until 2028, South Korean media reported at the time.
President and chief executive at the Seoul-based group, Lee Jae-ok, said the brand will provide its “full support” to the national ski team by supplying them with “high-performance sportwear and training supplies” in partnership with Kappa’s Italian headquarters. In turn, the agreement is expected to boost the brand’s coming launch of winter sports apparel and gear in the local market.
Kappa also forged a multi-year sponsorship deal with the Alpine F1 Team back in January.
