Hyosung looks to nurture textile startups

South Korean fibre producer Hyosung TNC is welcoming applications from domestic startups eligible to take part in an open innovation scheme, newly launched in collaboration with Korea International Trade Association (KITA).

Specifically, the partners are looking for startups with potential to pioneer the future textile market with eco-friendly processes or smart technologies.

Eligible innovators include developers of biobased and biodegradable long fibres, textile-to-textile recyclers and sustainable dyeing and processing specialists, plus those involved in making wearable smart textiles and other forms of e-textile technology. Hyosung is also looking for startups that can support its own environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) strategy, such as companies with carbon- and energy-saving know-how or those that can demonstrate expertise in other areas of sustainability.

Successful entities will be supported in the joint development of new products and technologies, with potential to explore investment and partnership further down the line.

Interested parties are invited to apply online via KITA’s Innobranch platform by August 28.
