Hyosung, BlackYak and more inaugurate Zero Seoul

10/06/2022
A ceremony has been held at Seoul City Hall to mark the launch of a public-private action group, Zero Seoul, which will work to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions and eliminate production of single-use, throwaway products, local media have reported.

Notably, fibre producer Hyosung and outdoor brand BlackYak were among the group’s founding members, alongside Starbucks, national railway operator Korail, Woori Bank, the Korea Marine Environment Management Corporation, the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and others. Administrators from Seoul metropolitan government also participated.

The group will work to realise three key environmental policies promoted by the city government, including: spearheading energy-efficient infrastructure, zero-waste city planning and implementation, and rolling out Seoul’s city-level climate crisis mitigation strategy.
