Puma unveils new Nitro lab for runners

Hot on the heels of announcing record-level sales for the twelve months of 2022, Germany-based sports brand Puma has inaugurated an athlete testing centre alongside orthopaedics specialists Hartmann.

Named the Nitro Lab after the company’s foam footwear technology, the facility is set up to take Puma runners through a host of full-body tests and scans, including 4D motion analysis, to create specially tailored physiotherapeutic programmes, designed to enhance athletes’ performance. Also open to the public, for use by runners of all levels, one of the brand’s most recent signings, sprinter Marcell Jacobs, was among the first to use the Nitro Lab last month.

Senior head of innovation at Puma, Romain Girard, commented: “We work with the fastest men and women in the world to help them perform better, then we use our learning to innovate our products. The [facility therefore] becomes critical in driving the next generation of product development, on and off the track.”

Puma has also appointed Lionel Telega, an employee of almost two decades, to the role of Sportstyle general manager, effective immediately. Mr Telega replaces Maria Valdes, who became chief product officer in January.
