Registrations open for Chinese ‘eco-friendly’ fabric awards

23/06/2023

Domestic fabric design and development professionals are encouraged to submit samples for judges’ consideration by July 22, should they wish to participate in this year’s China Eco-friendly Fabric Design Competition, now in its sixth edition.

Five 60-square-centimetre samples are requested per fabric submission, as are copies of relevant certification material.

Each textile must be commercially scalable, yet demonstrably low impact from raw material through end of life. It must also meet the criteria for one or more sustainability standard, either at the level of fibres, dyes and auxiliaries or in terms of its production environment.

The dual themes, this time around, are “consumption insight” and “low-carbon transformation”.

Eight categories of fabric are eligible for entry: sportswear, casualwear, denim, shirts, underwear, women’s ready-to-wear, men’s formalwear and home textiles.

Prizes up for grabs include two awards, one for eco-friendly fabric development and another for technology innovation, in addition to “several excellence awards”.

Winning entries will be exhibited at the Jiangsu (Shengze) Textile Expo in October.

The competition is sponsored by China National Textile and Apparel Council.
