New ownership for Unmade
Unmade, the developer of on-demand manufacturing software for sportswear brands, has been acquired by Hi-Tech Apparel, a garment manufacturer based in Thailand. French sports retailer Decathlon, which had previously invested in the company, will remain a shareholder following the deal.

“We have worked closely with the hugely talented Unmade team for a number of years and believe in their ability to build on what is already industry-leading software to give our customers the responsiveness they demand,” commented Wason Vitanakorn, CEO of Hi-Tech Apparel. The group operates 13 manufacturing facilities in Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos and is preparing to install a new plant in Egypt.

“This marks a huge milestone for Unmade and gives us a unique opportunity to implement our technology on a much bigger scale. It was clear from our first meeting that Hi-Tech’s vision for a digital, demand driven supply chain solution was very aligned with our own,” said Hal Watts, Unmade co-founder and CEO. He and COO Simon Rea will remain in the company.

Hal Watts, Kirsty Emery-Laws and Ben Alun-Jones were the founding members of the company, originally named Knyttan, in 2014, in London. Over the years, it has raised a total of £15 million. The acquisition by Hi-Tec is said to value the company at 10x revenue.
