Unitex introduces Coolmax CloakFX
Chinese knitting mill Unitex presented its first fabrics made from The Lycra Company’s new Coolmax CloakFX at Performance Days last week. The fibre includes a light-diffusing additive that makes sweat marks less visible, a feature that will not wash out during laundering. “At the show, everyone has been asking for it,” Wendy Fang, Unitex marketing director, told Sportstextiles. “It is more expensive, but it is worth it.” She mentioned brands in running and women’s activewear and intimates as the most interested in developing products made from the new fabric.
Unitex offers several novel low impact fibres in its ranges, including T2T recycled polyester knits and fabrics made from a biobased polyester yarn developed by UPM Biochemicals, which is derived from wood. “It does not use any food-related resources, which is important for brands,” noted Ms Fang. “And it is virtually equivalent to a virgin polyester.”
The company also introduced a water repellent polo shirt quality, made from water repellent yarns, an interesting development for golf and outdoors.
The company is building a new factory in Vietnam, near Ho Chi Min City, equipped with spinning and warp and circular knitting which is expected to begin production in 2027.
