Unitex further closes the loop
China-based knitter Unitex is exhibiting at Première Vision Paris, which opens today, and is presenting an expanded range of fabrics made from recycled textiles. The vertically-integrated company makes circular and warp knits for the activewear, bodywear and lifestyle sectors. It is now working with three suppliers of fibres made from waste textiles.

Jiaren Greencircle, based in China, operates a chemical recycling facility that breaks polyester down to its building blocks. FENC, in Taiwan, is another key supplier. Its Topgreen rTex yarns are made from mechanically recycled factory waste. Unifi’s Repreve Tackback yarns are also a part of Unitex’s T2T range. These yarns are recycled from a combination of industrial and consumer waste, through a mechanical process.

Unitex’s expanded T2T recycled range complements its other sustainable solutions spanning mono-material constructions to bio-based yarns.

Chris Lei, innovation lead for Unitex, said that the mill is one of the few to have “a sustainability-first mindset” and that its goal is to strengthen its “presence in key global markets”.
