Outdoor voice finally being heard by policymakers, says OIA

The US’s Outdoor Industry Association (OIA) has described 2015 as a “pivotal year” now the industry is “finally having a significant impact” on policymakers in Washington.

Its 23rd annual Capitol Summit will be held in mid-April and is a chance for outdoor industry executives to lobby members of Congress to support industry recreation, trade and business priorities.

Retailer REI sponsors the event. Its director of government and community affairs, Marc Berejka, said: “It’s often said that in politics if you’re not at the table, you’re the meal. The Capitol Summit is our chance to show lawmakers in DC that our industry is at the table.”

“The outdoor industry is finally having a significant impact with policymakers in Washington and leaders across the country,” said Alex Boian, OIA’s director of government affairs.
