‘Collaboration’ is key message from IAF convention

Delegates at the International Apparel Federation (IAF)’s annual conference in Turkey heard how working together can improve supply chains.

Han Bekke of Modint, Leyla Ertur of H&M and Murat Attun of Inditex said collaborating can boost companies’ efforts to improve CSR and sustainability. “Joint efforts and alignment will make the industry better,” they said.

Christoph Auhagen, the chief brand officer of Hugo Boss, which sources from Turkish knit fabric manufacturer Yesim Tekstil, said implementing 3D digital product development technology reduced the number of physical samples they need.

GT Nexus’s Kurt Cavano said use of new financial instruments can free working capital caught in inventory, creating money for investments improving the supply chain.

Turkish companies said the country can transition from low value added manufacturing to high margin brands and retailers, given the right knowledge, infrastructure and climate.
